Periods also called Mensuration in women’s life is an unavoidable thing. Here, I'm going to share my experience in my life as how I tackled to control my period's pain naturally.

Initial days

Initial days of periods from the age of 13 to 18, I didn't feel a lot of pain during my periods. I had discomforts and diarrhoea sometimes. But after 18, everything changed. I felt periods of symptoms like severe pain where I wasn't able to stand, diarrhoea, vomiting and some days, I fainted because of pain intolerance.

When I checked my condition with the doctor, they suggested that I use a period tablet. I took it too as the period pain is interfering with my daily life. But after some months everyone advised me to not take the tablets as the side effects are irreversible. So I researched alternate ways to cope with the menstrual pain. Here are the period pain relief tips that worked for me.

Regular exercise

Regular mild exercise will help you in many ways. What I did was a daily 30 minutes walk. This worked way beneficial in my life to regulate my period dates and maintain my body weight at a certain level.

This daily walk also helped me psychologically to overcome the daily stress I face.

Food behaviour

I minimally changed my food behaviour. I'm not a junk food lover in the first place. So it was easy for me to change into a healthy diet.

The important change I made is, I replaced white rice and included millets as an alternative. It made me feel full with minimal quantity and aids in maintaining a healthy weight.

The next thing I included in my diet is, Horsegram. It's best in both maintaining a healthy menstruation cycle and body mass. And making little changes in daily lifestyle like reducing sugar and salt intake, good sleep cycle and reduced screen time, relaxed mind.

Hot water bag

Our period takes place after approximately 28 days. Changing our lifestyle in those 28 days will help to tackle these 5 important days. You can't get the result immediately as medicines give. But the small results you get by these changes will be everlasting and no-side effective as it's all-natural ways.

The hot water bag is my best friend during period days. I prefer hot water bags over hot water bottles as the bags maintain heat for a long time.

The heat from the bag will help in undisturbed blood flow which results in less pain.

Herbal tea

Herbal teas will serve their purpose from relaxing your mind to regulating your periods. Many herbal teas are in practice worldwide. The one that suits me is Senna Auriculata tea.

In Tamil, it's called “Aavaram poo”. It helps in regulating the menstrual cycle. Simply take some dried Senna Auriculata flowers, boil them in hot water for 5-10 minutes. Add brown sugar or jaggery. Here's your herbal tea!

It also helps to glorify your skin from the inside. Some researchers also state that Senna Auriculata even helps in preventing cancer.

Graceful periods

Every woman is blessed with periods to create a new life. So enjoy that period without worry.
